The Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Act 2016 was passed on 31 August 2016 and made many changes to the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990 effective from 1 January 2017.
PROPERTIES BUILT AFTER JANUARY 2017
AS3786:2014 smoke alarms in every bedroom, in the hallways connecting bedrooms and at least one smoke alarm on every level. All smoke alarms must be interconnected & photoelectric.
AFTER JANUARY 2022 – EXISTING RENTAL PROPERTIES
